I've been thinking of starting a weekly 'food blog' a few months ago and a some of my friends thought it was a good idea. I'm very much fond of trying out a variety of food available in Doha (Qatar) and it's one of main reason why my Instagram became a food tour album.
In this blog, I'm sharing my dining experience at Biella.
My friend Carlo and I checked out Biella (City Center Mall branch) for an early dinner on Saturday. Biella is an Italian Caffe, Pizzeria and Ristorante joint that has a few branches around Doha. This particular branch is at the 2nd flr of City Center Mall.
Honestly, I never really had an intention of checking out this joint at first because for a budget-friendly foodie like me, it kind of looked like a pricey place to eat. Especially on a day where grabbing a BK burger seemed fit. But, since we wanted to try something new, we both just said, "Yeah. Okay fine.".
The service was really nice. Upon entering the place, the crew greeted us and we asked for a table-for-two. The lady who assisted us introduced us to the other crew who would be serving us for the day, and after a few minutes, a basket of their complimentary bread was served. They had a different variety of bread served, which wasn't that bad. I really liked the flat bread (which looked like a dehydrated Kubus), and having it with the olive oil & balsamic vinegar dip made a nice combo.
I remember talking about Paul Bakery's complimentary bread with my friend. It's my favorite thing, only because it was served with butter and black olives tapenade.
We sat on the family area (blue couch as pictured above) because we wanted to sit comfortably. It was around 5PM, the sun was just setting down and sitting beside the glass window was very nice.
We ordered a pasta and a pizza dish for the two of us to share. As seen on the photo above, we had the Ravioli Di Pollo (Ravioli pasta stuffed with chicken served in a creamy mushroom sauce) and their Calzone Farcito (filled oven bread pizza, stuffed with taleggio cheese, salami, mozzarella, oregano and tomato sauce served with salad on the side).

The Ravioli was very nice. Biella's own mushroom sauce blends well with the pasta. This was my first chicken-stuffed ravioli and I thought it was kind of dry.
Their Calzone was amazing. I'm not very fond of thin (crispy) crust pizza and so this was just the bomb! There was steam coming out of the pizza when we sliced it in half. The bread was so soft and the stuffing was just perfect. Carlo loves Parmesan cheese and if you ask, they serve it for free (tell me that's not awesome).

We spent more or less QR 130 for everything (including a 750ml bottle of S. Pellegrino sparkling water) not bad for two people.
Now that I've had my fair share of experience dining with Biella, I'll make sure to drop by again and even try their QR 75 meals for two on weekdays (1PM to 8PM) with my mom. :)
