Qatar Foodie Tour: Iftar at Chili's Qatar (City Centre Doha)

It's Food Blog time again!

During Ramadan, our Muslim brothers and sisters spend a whole month  fasting from dawn to sunset. In the evening, once the sun sets, they break their fast during Iftar. Because of this, most of the restaurants here in Qatar offer Iftar and Suhoor (pre-fast meal) promotions.

Expats living in Qatar (even non-Muslims) enjoy these promotions because of the wide-variety of buffets (in hotels and Ramadan tents), amazing selection of set meals and discounted rates on  selected menu items in other restaurants.

Our first Iftar experience this year is with the American/Tex-Mex cuisine-based restaurant Chili's. We dined at the City Center Doha mall branch of Chili's with their 'IFTAR is all about SHARING' promotion at QAR 69.

Chili's Iftar offer, however, is good for two people (groups of four, six or more), hence their promotion title with the word 'sharing'. For QAR 69 per person, (QAR 138 for 2) a full-course meal is offered.

BUT! Here's the catch! You share one of the three dishes; the appetizer.

Dining at Chili's for Iftar has three (3) easy steps:

1) Pick your soup      2) Share one of the Appetizers      3) Select a Full-size Entrée

Due to the amount of people dining at Chili's at around 6:50 pm, (and also because we didn't want to wait fifteen whole minutes for the soup) took the offered Enchilada soup with crackers on the side. It was our first time having enchilada and we loved it! Dipping crackers into the tangy and cheesy soup was fun too!

For the shared appetizer, we ordered the BBQ Chicken salad. The serving of the salad was huge that we even felt quite full while munching on the tangy, a bit spicy and smokey salad.

For our full-sized entrée, I ordered the Combo Fajitas, a combination of beef and lamb meat (since we already had chicken with the salad). The Fajitas were great! I'm a meat-lover and so I was really happy that the beef and lamb were tender and cooked really well.My mom, on the other hand, had the Monterey Chicken. I also got the chance to taste the chicken and it was really tender. Plus! The combination of gooey cheese and crispy bacon on top was the bomb!

It was a good value and filling set meal for two and we even had my mom's food take-out since the serving was too big for her.

Note! They do offer special drinks for the Iftar menu like shakes and fruit coolers but we just went for the refillable-cola which costs QAR 11 only (compared to the QAR 20+ Ramadan drinks).

If you're hungry and is looking for a filling but is budget-friendly Iftar meal, I still do recommend Chili's!

We spent a total of QAR 160.00 for the whole meal (for 2)!

Instagram hashtag: #먹스타그램 (meog-seu-ta-geu-raem)

The Korean foodporn hashtag on Instagram: #먹스타그램 I've been active on Instagram(IG) for over a year now and a couple of months ago I decided to just make my instagram a food photo blog. If you check my Instagram, the photos are usually of food I eat everyday. I've been a Korean food junkie since my university days so I love checking out Korean foodporn shots on the internet.  As many Instagram users know, hashtags are used to make your photos be more popular and accessible and so I use a lot of hashtags on my photos.  I've been cooking a lot of Korean food nowadays because of the availability issues I have in the country where I live. I started using the hashtag #Koreanfood months ago and I noticed that a lot of Koreans I see on Instagram use the hashtag #먹스타그램.       먹스타그램 hashtag search on Instagram If I were to translate it in English, its an IG slang for meog (eat) and -stagram for Instagram. If you're a Korean foodporn junkie, you might as well use t

My 'BIGSTAR on After School Club' Experience I usually sign up for the live audience of Arirang World's After School Club but this episode was just amazing and so memorable for me.  When ASC announced that Bigstar would be appearing for the next episode, I immediately clicked and registered for the live audience, because of 'FEEL DOG'!
